So what exactly is Pay Per Click (PPC)?

PPC is a form of internet marketing in which advertisers pay a fee each time one of their ads is clicked. It’s designed to direct users directly to a defined place on your website, those people looking specifically for your product/service.

Search engine advertising is one of the most popular forms of PPC. It allows advertisers to bid for ad placement in a search engine’s sponsored links when someone searches on a keyword that is related to their business offering. For example, a printer manufacturer will bid on a keyword such as “inkjet”.

When users perform an internet search, the results are assessed and ranked, with the closest match appearing higher up the page. This “organic” SEO is based on criteria, including content, headers, page titles, internal links, links back to the site from other reliable websites and much more.

These adverts are generated through Google AdWords. Your business wants to be on the top left, as you can see here from this example the majority of page one is taken up by paid ads and Google My Business.

Organic placing whilst important will no longer get you to position 1 on page 1.

However it’s no longer simply Google Adwords, there are other forms of pay per click advertising including YouTube and Facebook.
